The Beck Isle Museum of Rural Life is a social history museum located in Pickering, North Yorkshire. It can be found about 100 metres away from The North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway and is housed in a Grade II listed Regency Mansion within its own grounds.
On entering it's a real step back in history with rooms and shops set out as cobblers, blacksmiths, coopers, a dairy, a pub, a Victorian parlour and so on. Beck Isle Museum is probably most well-known for its Sydney Smith exhibition. Sydney Smith was a noted photographer in Pickering and there are 1000's of images by him on display throughout the museum mostly dating from 1920 to 1940.
